About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Policy Advisor to join our team at the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development. As a key member of our Aviation Consumer Protection and Disability Access team, you will play a critical role in shaping policy and regulatory frameworks to support the aviation industry and consumers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement policy initiatives to promote consumer protection and accessibility in the aviation sector
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including industry representatives, consumer groups, and government agencies, to design and deliver policy solutions
  • Analyze the costs and benefits of policy options, including through regulatory impact analyses
  • Draft advice to inform government decision-making, including Cabinet submissions and ministerial briefs
  • Work with relevant agencies to inform the drafting of supporting legislation, regulation, and standards
  • Project manage initiatives to ensure delivery within government-agreed timeframes
Requirements
  • Commitment to providing high-quality policy advice to government and the Executive
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Well-developed communication skills, including written communication skills
  • Willingness to be flexible and adaptive to meet Government priorities and urgent tasks as needed
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Project management skills
  • Policy co-design experience
  • Experience in drafting instructions to guide the development of legislation and regulation
  • Experience in the development of regulatory impact analyses
