Job Title: Senior Azure Database Performance Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Database Performance Engineer to join our Database Operations team at State Street. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability and optimization of our Microsoft SQL Server databases in Azure.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, identifying bottlenecks and implementing query tuning to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with application teams to resolve database-related issues and ensure high availability, replication, and scalability.
  • Design and troubleshoot real-time database issues, ensuring compliance with technical standards and operational procedures.
  • Develop and maintain database performance standards, ensuring all application design and code meet integrity, security, and performance requirements.
  • Provide technical support to application development teams and participate in root-cause analysis to resolve priority incidents.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related technical field.
  • 6-8 years of experience working with large MS SQL Server databases in a 24x7x365 production environment.
  • Strong performance tuning experience, using tools like SolarWinds, Query Store, and Extended Events.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience operating MS SQL servers and related technologies in Azure.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong sense of customer service and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Azure certifications (DP-300, DP-900, AZ-900 Exam).
  • Experience with Snowflake and database encryption, high-availability, disaster recovery, and database replication.
