We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Database Performance Engineer to join our Database Operations team at State Street. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability and optimization of our Microsoft SQL Server databases in Azure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and optimize database performance, ensuring high availability and scalability in Azure.
  • Collaborate with application teams to identify and resolve database-related issues.
  • Develop and implement database performance tuning strategies, using tools such as Query Store and Extended Events.
  • Work closely with the Database Manager to establish and maintain technical standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide technical support to application development teams and participate in root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest Azure and SQL Server technologies, and contribute to the development of best practices and standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 6-8 years of experience working with large MS SQL Server databases in a 24x7x365 production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of database performance tuning, database design patterns, and database internals.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, and Snowflake.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail.
