Estimator Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled residential construction estimator to join our team at our Hemmant offices.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare accurate budgets using real quotes and pricing, track costs, report, and work closely with internal teams and contractors to minimize issues, solve buildability challenges, and deliver cost-effective solutions with minimal overruns.
  • Calculate material quantities with high accuracy, review drawings and specifications, and design precise layouts to ensure compliance and buildability.
  • Apply building best practices to review plans and designs, recommend smarter product options, create clear technical drawings, and ensure compliance with current building standards.
  • Maintain catalogues, review subcontractor quotes for cost and quality, and prepare supplier requests with necessary plans, specifications, and scopes of work.
  • Create accurate purchase orders, award them to contractors within timelines, and process invoices.
  • Update templates with product improvements, cost savings, buildability solutions, and feedback to keep them accurate and relevant for future projects.
  • Manage reports, budgets, orders, and catalogues using our systems, take precise measurements from plans, and keep project dates, workflows, and timelines up to date.
Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a Senior Estimator in residential construction
  • Relevant qualifications in construction, project management, or quantity surveying
  • Proven track record of preparing accurate and detailed cost estimates for various residential construction projects
  • Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and industry standards
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction plans, specifications, and drawings
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to identify and resolve cost variances
  • Flexible with excellent communication and collaboration skills, with ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Proficient in the use of Databuild, Bluebeam, Therefore, and Microsoft suite of products
