Community Housing Officer Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Community Housing Officer to join our Emergency Housing team in Hervey Bay. In this full-time role, you will play a vital part in delivering holistic, person-centred support to clients facing housing instability.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive initial assessments and develop individualised case plans.
  • Monitor and adjust case plans in line with client progress and evolving needs.
  • Provide immediate crisis support and connect clients with relevant external services.
  • Collaborate with real estate professionals to support clients' housing outcomes.
  • Manage a portfolio of residential properties, including inspections and tenancy transitions.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to ensure effective coordination of services.
  • Promote independent living skills to support client wellbeing and long-term stability.
  • Use sound judgment to determine when to escalate matters to specialist services.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Qualifications in Mental Health, Social Work, or Community Services (highly regarded).
  • Experience working with individuals experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
  • Strong understanding of complex needs.
  • Proven experience in case management, particularly with high-needs or vulnerable populations.
