Heavy Equipment Diesel Fitter Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Heavy Equipment Diesel Fitter to join our team. This is a permanent full-time position that requires a strong background in mechanical engineering and the ability to work independently.

The Role

This role involves performing a range of tasks, including overhauling hydraulic and mechanical components on various equipment, undertaking diagnostic work, failure analysis and repairs, and completing and submitting relevant paperwork and reports.

  • Safety Commitment: The successful candidate will be required to exercise a high standard of precaution and duty of care to themselves and others around them.
  • Maintenance and Repairs: They will be responsible for maintaining and repairing heavy diesel mechanics and mobile plant equipment, ensuring all work is completed to a high standard and within set deadlines.

The ideal candidate will have a trade qualification in a mechanical engineering discipline and extensive experience working with heavy diesel mechanics and field service fitters. They will also possess excellent analytical thinking skills and the ability to navigate complex technical issues with minimal rework.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Trade Qualification: Certificate III in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years' experience working with heavy diesel mechanics and field service fitters, with a strong understanding of construction equipment and Hitachi machinery.
  • Skillset: Proven analytical thinking skills, ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills.
