The Aviation, Land and Maritime Transport (ALMT) Programme is a key business area at the Bureau of Meteorology, responsible for its relationships with service delivery partners, government stakeholders, and customers operating in the aviation, land and maritime transport sectors.

Within Australian Flight Information Regions, the ALMT Programme provides sole aviation meteorological services to the industry. The programme plays a crucial role in meeting Australia's obligations under the Convention on International Civil Aviation.

Aerodrome Engagement Team

The team is accountable for increasing proactive engagement with aerodrome operators and managing relationships with Airservices Australia. It works closely with other teams across the Bureau to deliver value to the aviation industry.

We are seeking an experienced senior customer engagement specialist who understands the aviation sector and can build strong relationships with customers at all levels.

The successful applicant will possess high initiative, leadership capabilities, excellent communication, and stakeholder engagement skills. They will have experience working across teams, technical domains, and demonstrated project management skills. They will be skilled at influencing, experienced at senior levels of organisations, and contribute to planning aviation meteorological services.

Main Responsibilities
  • Lead a small team responsible for engagement with Airservices Australia, aerodrome operators, and associations. Deepen and broaden customer relationships with the aerodrome sector and respond to customer opportunities to deliver value.
  • Develop a structured approach to understanding, supporting, and improving outcomes for the aerodrome sector, ensuring effective customer needs are met.
  • Develop national and global policies related to aviation meteorological services.
  • Provide direction to multi-disciplinary teams and support internal areas interacting with aerodromes.
  • Develop business proposals and agreements for new customer offerings.
  • Implement strategies for quality management systems and maintain ISO 9001 standard certification.
  • Ensure a safe, diverse workplace where people grow and excel, and customers trust and enjoy working with the Bureau.
