
Disaster Response Specialist

This role will see you playing a pivotal part in strengthening community capacity to prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.
- Lead engagement and advocacy activities
- Support workshops and training
Working closely with Local and District Disaster Management Groups, councils, community organisations, and volunteers, you will build local knowledge, capability, and confidence.
A dynamic position demands flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Key Requirements- Relevant four-year degree with one-year relevant experience or three year degree with two years of relevant experience or lesser formal qualifications with substantial years of relevant experience
- Prior experience in emergency management, project management or community engagement and/or community development
- Ability to set priorities, plan and organise own work and that other staff and/or volunteers as required
- Previous experience in delivering project/program outcomes
- Ability to effectively support communities before, during, or after a disaster
- Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Interpersonal skills, presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
