Emergency Response Specialist

This is a dynamic role that demands flexibility, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous learning in a fast-paced environment.

You will lead engagement and advocacy activities, support workshops and training, and work closely with local and district disaster management groups, councils, community organisations, and volunteers to build local knowledge, capability, and confidence.

The ideal candidate will have relevant experience in emergency management, project management or community engagement and/or community development. They will also possess strong interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

A clearance to work with children (Blue Card) is a mandatory requirement for this role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with Local and District Disaster Management Groups to develop strategies for disaster response and recovery
  • Collaborate with community organisations to build capacity and resilience in communities affected by disasters
  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance the skills of emergency responders and community members
  • Assist in the coordination of relief efforts during disasters and emergencies
Requirements
  • Relevant degree and one year of relevant experience or three year degree with two years of relevant experience
  • Prior experience in emergency management, project management or community engagement and/or community development
  • Strong interpersonal skills, presentation skills, and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
