Job Description

The successful candidate will work closely with schools to advocate for the educational and cultural needs of Aboriginal students. They will draw on the capacity and expertise of the Divisional Koorie Education Manager, Koorie Education Coordinator, and Koorie Education Support Officers (Koorie Education Workforce) to provide comprehensive support to Aboriginal students in out-of-home care.

The role involves building the capacity of early childhood education and care services and schools to deliver culturally appropriate supports and opportunities that foster connection to culture. As a key member of the LOOKOUT Centre's multidisciplinary team, the Koorie Cultural Advisor will contribute to policy and practice development to improve education outcomes for out-of-home care children and young people.

Key responsibilities include advocating for the educational and cultural needs of Aboriginal students, drawing on the capacity and expertise of the Koorie Education Workforce to provide comprehensive support, building the capacity of early childhood education and care services and schools to deliver culturally appropriate supports, and contributing to policy and practice development to improve education outcomes.
