**Role Description/Criteria**

**About the role**:
An exciting opportunity to join the team at MacKillop is available, we are currently seeking a full time Education Specialist to join our Therapeutic Residential Care team. This role will be predominately based at out Footscray office with one day of travel to our Geelong office. Flexible working arrangements and access to pool car bookings available.

Our vision at MacKillop Education is to ensure equity and access to learning for all children and young people who are vulnerable and disengaged from education. As an Education Specialist you will develop strong, supportive professional relationships to engage students and provide a safe and stimulating environment for learning.

**Key Selection Criteria**:
To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Appropriate experience and/or qualifications in education.
- A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
- Experience working with children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively within a team (e.g. colleagues, professionals and other stakeholders).

Key Requirements:

- Valid and current Driver's Licence;
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop);
- Valid Employee Working with Children Check; OR a valid VIT registration
- Valid and current NDIS Workers Screening Check

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Appropriate experience and qualifications in education.
- Experience working with children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education.
- A sound understanding of how trauma impacts on learning.
- Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing individual education plans.
