Behavioural Support Specialist Role

As a Behavioural Support Specialist, you will be working within a collaborative team environment to understand customer needs and goals. You will have your own caseload, providing assessments and therapeutic interventions, as well as assisting in the clinical support of graduate and core level practitioners.

You will assist customers, their families, and a team of behavioural support specialists to identify individual needs through assessment and planning, developing meaningful goals. You will also provide consultation advice and support around significant life transitions for customers in placements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consultation advice and support around significant life transitions for customers in placements.
  • Consult and liaise with clients, hospital and community staff, carers/family members, relevant agencies, and government departments, as appropriate.
  • Develop Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs) as part of a small caseload, as well as monitor and approve all PBSPs prepared by your team.

Requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Disability, or Social Sciences.
  • Knowledge in Positive Behaviour Support capability framework.
  • Experience in Allied Health/Behaviour Support/completed student placements and willingness to learn.
  • Good knowledge of NSW Legislation in relation to restrictive practices.
  • Explicit knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support principles, including functional behaviour assessment, development of behaviour support plans, implementation processes.
  • A current Australian Drivers' Licence with willingness to travel.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • NDIS Worker Check (NDISWC) Clearance.
  • Confirmation record of COVID-19 vaccination (dose 1, 2 & booster).
  • Willingness to undergo a national police check.
