Job Opportunity: Men and Family Therapist

We are seeking a skilled and experienced therapist to provide high-quality, trauma-informed child and family domestic violence therapy.

About the Role

This is a part-time role available based in Waitara. As a therapist, you will be responsible for providing direct counselling services, including intake, suitability screening, and referrals. You will also facilitate group work sessions, develop and deliver group programs, and engage with stakeholders to build collaborative partnerships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct counselling services, including intake, suitability screening, and referrals.

  • Deliver outreach services within the local community, providing groups sessions to target areas.
  • Maintain safety standards and report hazards and incidents.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Welfare, Psychology, or equivalent qualifications.
  • Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a Counselling role working with Men & Families.
  • Extensive experience in attachment theory, play therapy for child developmental trauma, family systems theory, men's behaviour change, domestic violence training, and parenting support and education following child trauma.
  • Able to demonstrate networking and advocacy skills with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to manage crisis or safety situations and make sound decisions under pressure.
