About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior People Advisor to join our Rail Operations Business Unit in Melbourne. This fixed-term parental leave role will involve providing HR and IR advice and guidance to support the implementation and delivery of people matters, including capability building, talent management, staff engagement, performance management, and industrial relations.

As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Rail Operations leaders and employees nationally to:

  • Provide timely and accurate HR/IR advice and guidance
  • Support the facilitation of the annual salary review process, including staff market alignments, promotions, and providing advice to managers on bandings and relativities
  • Facilitate and support performance development, performance management, and disciplinary processes
  • Assist in identifying training gaps and support the delivery of coaching/training
  • Support and provide advice on change initiatives, ensuring alignment with the organisational vision, values, and business strategy
  • Support the People Lead in developing and implementing proactive employee engagement and retention strategies
  • Support with enterprise agreement negotiations
  • Contribute to the achievement of the people business plan and more

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build collaborative relationships with stakeholders and influence decision-making
  • Experience in providing HR and IR advice and support, utilising your working knowledge of best practice and relevant legislation
  • Experience as a generalist HR professional with practical application of Human Resources in Project Construction, Heavy Industry Manufacturing work environments
  • Experience supporting white and blue-collar employees and advising at all levels of management
  • Proven ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust to deal with sensitive and difficult situations in a diplomatic and respectful manner
  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, or equivalent experience
