Improve Perinatal Mental Health Services

As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will work in collaboration with a specialist multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to women and their families during the perinatal period.

This role involves providing specialist psychiatric PIMH services, secondary perinatal and infant mental health consultation and liaison, as well as clinical education and training for clinicians and students.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing specialist psychiatric PIMH services aligned with best practice and professional standards.
  • Collaborating with other relevant health services and agencies on the development and implementation of perinatal and infant mental health promotion initiatives.
  • Ensuring Child Safe practices are inherent in all areas of service delivery, including working with children and young people from diverse backgrounds.

It is essential to ensure a safe environment for children and young people and immediately report any suspected or disclosed abuse in line with reporting processes.

Requirements and Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment. A Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree or equivalent qualification is required, along with a Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (FRANZCP).
