Job Title: Governance Risk Expertise Sought for Audit Committee
Are you a seasoned professional with expertise in risk management and governance? The City of Boroondara seeks an independent member to join its Audit and Risk Committee.
Overview of the Role

This is a key governance role, overseeing the Council's risk management framework and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements. As an independent member, you will play a critical part in shaping the committee's strategic direction and providing expert guidance on risk management systems and procedures.


Key Responsibilities
  • Attend quarterly committee meetings, scheduled in the evenings (March, June, September, and December)
  • Review and provide input on strategic risk management systems and procedures
  • Assess financial management, including budgeting, systems, and procedures
  • Evaluate local government business controls, including internal and external audits
  • Ensure compliance with local government legislative and governance controls, including anti-fraud and corruption measures
  • Provide expertise on information technology systems and business transformations

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in public sector management, preferably in a local government setting
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles and practices
  • Ability to review complex financial information and provide insightful analysis
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
