Wildlife Protector

A wildlife officer plays a pivotal role in safeguarding Queensland's native flora and fauna. The position offers a stimulating yet fulfilling experience, requiring dedication to regulatory compliance and animal welfare.

• Support the team in meeting the husbandry needs of all native wildlife held at Moggill, ensuring their safety and well-being.
• Promote awareness and understanding of conservation values among the public, enhancing their knowledge of compliance obligations under the Nature Conservation Act 1992.
• Assist in responding to complaints from the public, conducting audits of permit holders, and investigating reports of illegal activities involving native flora and fauna.

• You are a self-motivated individual with enthusiasm and drive, able to work within a small but high-performing team.
• Confident communication skills are essential, allowing you to engage with a wide range of people respectfully and confidently, even in difficult circumstances.
• Good animal handling and husbandry skills are required, or the ability to quickly acquire them.
• Regulatory compliance skills are also necessary, or the ability to quickly acquire them, to support compliance operations under the Nature Conservation Act 1992.
