">Wildlife Rehabilitator Position">

This is a full-time, temporary position that will run from May 1 to September 1, 2025. The successful candidate will work various shifts including weekends and statutory holidays.">

">About the Role">
  • The Wildlife Rehabilitator will be responsible for handling all wildlife care duties and daily operations of the centre.">
  • Responsibilities include rescue, rehabilitation, facility maintenance, cleaning, and promoting animal welfare.">
  • The role requires strong teamwork skills and excellent communication abilities.">
">Key Responsibilities">
  1. Participate in daily animal care activities: admission, rescue, triage, examination, treatment, diet planning, feeding, and release.">
  2. Respond to phone calls and interact with the public, veterinarians, government agencies, etc.">
  3. Maintain hygiene standards and adhere to health and safety protocols.">
  4. Assist in training and managing volunteers.">
  5. Keep detailed records, including patient files and care instructions; perform data entry and record analysis.">
  6. Rescue and transport wildlife.">
  7. Assist in designing, constructing, and maintaining cages.">
  8. Collect supplies and donations as needed.">
  9. Work shifts as required, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, and perform related duties.">
">Qualifications">
  • Minimum 2 years of post-secondary studies in Biological Sciences, Animal Health Care, or a related field.">
  • At least 2 years of wildlife rehabilitation or husbandry experience.">
  • BASIC REHABILITATION SKILLS CERTIFICATION FROM A PROVINCIAL OR INTERNATIONAL BODY.">
  • Experience caring for small to medium wild mammals and birds, including raptors, songbirds, waterfowl, seabirds, deer, raccoons, squirrels, seals.">
  • Knowledge of BC wildlife species' natural history, identification, and behavior; familiarity with provincial and federal wildlife regulations and permits.">
  • Ability to handle demanding workloads and long hours.">
  • Availability to work all shifts assigned.">
  • Comfort working with hazardous conditions, parasites, zoonoses, dangerous animals, and chemicals.">
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds.">
  • Strong teamwork skills and work ethic.">
  • Excellent communication skills, including public speaking and phone etiquette.">
  • Good physical stamina and health.">
  • Intermediate computer skills.">
  • Valid Class N or 5 BC Driver's License and driver's abstract.">
