Volunteer Coordinator

At a remarkable little penguin colony in Melbourne, we are seeking an enthusiastic Penguin Volunteer Coordinator to lead our volunteer guide program every night of the year.

  • Recruit, train, and coordinate a team of passionate volunteer penguin guides who deliver educational experiences.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions and educational resources for volunteers.
  • Manage weekly volunteer rosters and provide ongoing support and recognition.
  • Participate in guiding duties on the boardwalk one night per month.
  • Work collaboratively with staff and other key stakeholders.

Key qualifications include experience in volunteer management or coordination (2+ years), strong organizational and communication skills, and a genuine interest in wildlife conservation and environmental education. This part-time role (14 hours/week) offers flexible working arrangements and the unique opportunity to help build meaningful community engagement.
