Job Overview

An Agronomist plays a crucial role in building and maintaining strong relationships with clients to help them create a successful, sustainable, and productive business.

The position involves providing agronomic technical advice, products, and services to clients, as well as leading the rural products sales team and overseeing this function within the branch.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide onsite agronomic and technical support to clients to recommend appropriate products and services to strengthen their business.
  • Achieve allocated financial objectives and assist with product forecasting and inventory management.
  • Promote staff upskilling by providing technical advice and product recommendations.
  • Develop and foster professional relationships with a targeted group of existing and new clients.
  • Identify and cultivate new agronomic sales opportunities for prospective and existing clients.
  • Maximise promotional opportunities, including assisting at field days and farmer meetings with demonstrations and trial work.
  • Lead and mentor the rural products sales team to build strong client relationships, promote beneficial products, and enhance business success.
  • Manage branch retail operations to exceed targets and monitor rural products performance against key metrics.
  • Source new business opportunities to expand market share and assist in setting retail sales targets and business planning.

  • You have a qualification in Agronomy aiming to grow your expertise while also managing a rural products team.
  • You have an ability to provide high level customer service and cultivate relationships with potential and current growers.
  • You have a tertiary qualification in agricultural science or a related field.
  • You thrive in a flexible and agile working environment.
