Youth Development Support Specialist

We seek an Adolescent Support Worker to provide individualised 24/7 care and support for young people in our residential program.
Key Responsibilities:- Promote a person-centred approach to the direct care of young people, ensuring their unique needs are met.
- Provide emotional support, crisis intervention, maintain a safe home environment and encourage social and living skills development.
- Undertake household duties, participate in regular team meetings and training.
A typical day may include:
- Building independent living skills
- Assisting with daily care and support
- Encouraging goal achievement
- Transporting young people to appointments
- Daily household management
- Supporting engagement in education and extracurricular activities
- Connecting young people with family and culture
- Utilising specialist services such as Speech Therapists and Behaviour Support Practitioners
- Commitment to child safety
- Qualifications in Residential Care or related areas
- Current First Aid Certificate
- Understanding of trauma impact on behaviour
- Knowledge of therapeutic interventions and behaviour management strategies
- Positive attitude to engaging children in nurturing environments
- Experience in home management duties
- Ability to work independently and under limited supervision
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Flexibility in working hours including weekends and sleepovers
