Orthopaedic Surgical Fellow Position

About the Role

This position has been established to enhance the delivery of general surgical services to patients at the Launceston General Hospital, Northern Region. The successful candidate will receive expert tuition in various orthopaedic procedures, including total hip and knee replacements, arthroscopy, and reconstructive surgery.

The role involves supervised surgery at the Launceston General Hospital and private assisting at St Lukes Hospital Calvary. The candidate will gain operative experience in trauma and arthroplasty lists, supervised by a visiting medical officer.

The successful applicant will have the opportunity to establish a strong foundation in orthopaedic surgery, working closely with a supervisor to develop their skills and knowledge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in supervised surgery at the Launceston General Hospital
  • Assist in private practice at St Lukes Hospital Calvary
  • Develop skills and knowledge in orthopaedic surgery, including total hip and knee replacements, arthroscopy, and reconstructive surgery
  • Work closely with a supervisor to establish a strong foundation in orthopaedic surgery
