Rf Sensor Technology Leader
Job Description:The Rf Sensor Technology Leader oversees a small team of scientists, engineers and technical staff with the primary responsibility of conducting research and field trials into design, development, testing and evaluation of rf sensors and systems for guided weapons.
Under the broad guidance of the Group Leader for Guided Weapon Sensors & Processing (Gws&P), the main responsibilities include :
- Contributing to the development and shaping of the Gws&P Rf Sensor S&T capability including supervision of staff, workforce planning, capability management and creation of a productive work culture.
- Providing technical oversight and coordination of the design, simulation, testing and evaluation of rf sensing payloads for guided weapon test activities.
- Collaborating with industry, academia & international research agencies for flight testing rf sensor payload capabilities; including leadership, guidance and shaping of sensor and guidance technology maturation efforts.
- Engaging with defence program stakeholders to improve alignment with their priorities and shared interests in common science and technology.
- A degree or equivalent experience in rf related engineering, science or physics.
- A demonstrated aptitude in one or more of rf system engineering; rf subsystem, component, and sensor development; and understanding of rf sensor applications for guided weapons.
- Demonstrated ability to provide effective leadership and management of a small team of scientists, engineers and technical staff, including career development and performance management.
- Experience leading and maintaining cooperative research relationships with Defence Program. industry and academic partners.
- Good interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, with a proven ability to build and maintain effective relationships with peers, defence stakeholders, and industry and academic partners.

The Intelligent Weapon Systems (Iws) Major Science and Technology Capability (Mstc) conceives and develops s&t capabilities to facilitate and enable the development, assessment and integration of intelligent weapon system concepts for precise prosecution of threats and assured delivery of effects, to enhance current and future defence operational capabilities in complex and contested environments.
The Guided Weapon Sensors & Processing (Gws&P) Science and Technology Capability (Stc) is committed to advancing research and development of guided weapon sensor technologies to support advanced seeking, detection, tracking and navigation in complex, hostile, and contested battlespaces. It supports the development, testing, integration and assessment of sensors and processing used for weapons guidance and targeting.
