The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health leads the development, planning, and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Southeast Queensland. Job Description

This role contributes to the continuous improvement of culturally appropriate healthcare services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities in Southeast Queensland. Full-time, part-time, and casual flexibility are available.

  • Participate in an innovative System of Care addressing health and wellbeing needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
  • Work closely with local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, respecting traditions, values, and cultural practices at the forefront of care delivery.

  • This role includes travel to member services across SEQ, providing flexibility and exposure to diverse healthcare settings.

Key aspects of the role include:

  • Virtual Care Team: Provide telehealth services, expanding access to care across rural and remote communities.
  • Clinic Cover: Deliver in-person care at various member service clinics across the region, ensuring continuity of healthcare delivery.
  • Home Visiting Service: Provide healthcare in patients' homes.
  • Palliative Care: Work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver compassionate care to individuals nearing the end of life.
  • Staying Deadly Hubs: Provide healthcare services within community hubs designed to support mental health and wellbeing.
  • School Health Checks: Work alongside schools in the community to provide health checks for children, contributing to their long-term wellbeing.
  • Regional Clinical Support: Provide clinical oversight and support to IUIH member services, responsible for service development and delivery of urban Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health and family wellbeing care.
