This role will shape the future of library services in Maribyrnong, ensuring our branch continues to deliver exceptional experiences that spark learning, creativity, and connection.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a dedicated team, coaching and supporting them to grow and succeed.
  • Shape a thriving community hub where people of all ages feel welcome, inspired, and connected.
  • Play a key role in planning the brand-new Yarraville Library.
  • Help drive our ambitious Library Strategic Plan, championing new ideas and fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Work with the community to deliver creative programs and events, while building meaningful partnerships with local organisations and stakeholders.
What You'll Need
  • Tertiary qualifications (or working toward) in librarianship, information management or a related field, with eligibility for ALIA associate membership.
  • Proven experience leading, motivating, and coaching a team in a busy customer service environment.
  • Strong ability to adapt service-wide strategies to meet the needs of the local community.
  • A talent for building partnerships and working collaboratively with Council, co-located services, and the wider community.
  • Confidence with collections, digital tools, and online resources to provide outstanding information services and reader support.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage people of all ages, backgrounds, and abilities.
