Job Title: Remote Area Census Coordinator

We are seeking an experienced and skilled individual to fill the role of Remote Area Census Coordinator.

About the Role:

As a key member of our team, you will play a vital part in ensuring the success of the 2026 Census in remote areas of Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and manage field operations in regional and remote areas
  • Lead small teams responsible for Census collection activities within your designated area
  • Develop, update, and review work plans for your area of responsibility
  • Promote participation in the Census within the community
  • Work collaboratively with other Census staff
  • Monitor progress of your teams and provide project management support as required
  • Provide regular written and/or verbal progress reports to the Operations Management team
  • Maintain a safe working environment and manage daily Work Health and Safety requirements/activities for your team
  • Establish networks and maintain relationships with the community

Requirements:

  • Experience working with or advocating for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
  • Sound local area knowledge and the ability to read and navigate maps
  • Proven ability to communicate and develop relationships with people in the workplace and community
  • Capability to work independently, prioritize tasks with limited guidance, and make decisions independently
  • Strong project management skills, particularly in an operational setting
  • Leading or managing a team, including remote teams, in a busy, high-volume environment with tight deadlines
  • Skills in people management, including recruitment, training, and implementing WHS practices within a team
