Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Research Excellence Manager to join our team. The successful candidate will lead the preparation of research submissions, ensuring the highest quality outcomes.

The role involves managing impact in relation to REF and supporting the REF Steering Group and Unit of Assessment coordinators.

You will work closely with the Pro-Vice Chancellor Research to manage and deliver the Annual Monitoring of Research (AMR) evidence-led process and developmental tool.

To be successful in this role, you will have substantial relevant experience in the higher education environment, especially as it relates to research and impact.

A strong background in research management and administration or complex project management and delivery is essential, along with the capacity to lead evaluation processes that include reporting and developmental opportunities.

Proficiency in IT systems, websites, and databases, as well as good communication skills across all media, are also required.

Prioritizing attention to detail and accuracy, along with strong interpersonal skills, is crucial for this position.

The Academic Services Directorate includes Research & Impact, Knowledge Exchange, Academic Registry, Quality Assurance and Enhancement, the Learning and Teaching Enhancement Centre, and Brand, Communications and Public Affairs.

This directorate supports academics in their research and KE activities and maintains academic regulations, develops and implements academic policies, oversees the quality and standards of academic provision, and leads the development of education practices across the University.

We foster a vibrant research culture where researchers and research students can flourish, actively liaising with Faculties and researchers to support and develop research activities across all disciplines.

We provide related training and development opportunities, identify innovation opportunities, see change as an opportunity, value constructive feedback, and share best practices across the University.
