Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI) was Australia's first dedicated paediatric research facility and is now one of the world's most highly regarded independent medical research organisations. Our research focuses on the four key areas impacting children's health: cancer, genomics and genetic diseases, neurobiology, and embryology.
**Work with a team of dedicated professionals**
We're looking for an experienced Research Assistant to provide expert services for the Single Cell Analytics Facility and CellBank at Children's Medical Research Institute (CMRI), while also supporting other CMRI Research Facilities as needed. This is your opportunity to make a real impact by delivering high-quality services and support across multiple research platforms. In this role, you'll be empowered to work independently, while also contributing to a collaborative and forward-thinking team environment. You'll work closely with the Scientific Core Facilities Engagement & Service Support Lead and become an integral part of a team that drives innovation and excellence in research.
**What you'll do**:
- Proactively support researchers to achieve their scientific objectives through the provision of single cell analytics and long read sequencing services.
- Prepare technical reports and contribute to research papers.
- Coordinate Single Cell Analytics Facility services with colleagues in other Research Facilities where relevant to streamline and enhance customer experience.
- Assist with Cell Line Testing, Custom Culture and other services offered by CellBank one day per week.
- Assist with iPSC maintenance, expansion and freezing and other service offered by CMRI's Genome Engineering Facility.
- Assist Scientific Core Facilities Engagement & Service Support Lead to identify potential income generating and cost minimisation opportunities which enable the facility to be financially sustainable and implement these initiatives where directed.
- Proactively engage with potential users of the Single Cell Analytics Facility to maximise awareness and utilisation of available single cell analytics capability at CMRI.
- Represent CMRI Research Facilities at conferences, seminars and events.
- Actively seek projects which promote development of new capabilities of the Single Cell Analytics Facility.
- Undertake administrative duties relevant to the activities of the facility.

**What can you bring to this role?**
- Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline.
- Experience in genomics techniques. There is a preference for experience with single cells genomics including and/or scRNAseq and scATACseq, but this is not a must.
- Proficient in routine cell and molecular biology techniques.
- Experience in mammalian cell culture including iPSCs.
- Knowledge of cell and molecular biology.
- Experience with flow cytometry techniques and/or tissue and cell dissociation protocols: This experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficient computational skills and experience with database programs.
