About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Officer to join our team in Cairns. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering Phase 2 of the Raine Island Recovery Project, a priority project under the Reef Joint Field Management Program (RJFMP).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide input into the research methodology, work program, and reporting for the project.
  • Undertake and lead field work, including monitoring programs on marine turtles and seabirds.
  • Identify research gaps and share knowledge through publications, reports, media, and conferences.
  • Deliver training and data management for the project.
  • Liaise closely with the Scientific Advisory Group and provide secretarial support.
  • Support the governance of the project and work closely with project partners, including RJFMP staff, Wuthathi and Meriam Nation First Nations People, and other State and Federal Government Departments and researchers.

Requirements:

  • Highly skilled and experienced project coordinator with a strong background in marine conservation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in remote areas on marine vessels and islands for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work a roster outside of core hours and weekends.
