We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Engineer to lead our Major Projects team in North Queensland. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering complex water treatment projects and providing specialist engineering advice to our clients.
Key Responsibilities- Project Delivery: Lead teams for project delivery activities for capital works across our Major Projects portfolio.
- Tender Analysis: Undertake thorough and systematic analysis of tender submissions for capital works and prepare detailed reports for review by senior management and the Council.
- Team Leadership: Assist the Executive Manager Major Projects in leadership and supervision of allocated teams and work programs.
- Workload Management: Manage workload across team to drive efficiency and Value for Money opportunities.
- Expert Advice: Provide expert professional advice to other Council Officers, Stakeholders, and Councillors on current and proposed projects.
- Project Management: Responsible for overall delivery, project management, and contract management of elements of major capital works projects completed by both internal and external resources.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on project expenditure and scheduling, including details on progress claims, variations, and expenditure trends.
- Consultation: Lead consultation and negotiation with internal and external authorities, including public utility authorities.
- Technical Knowledge: Application of a sound technical knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Statutory Approval Legislation, and Contract Law.
- Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering or other relevant Engineering qualification.
- Experience: Extensive civil engineering, project, and contract management experience in a medium to large multi-disciplined organisation.
- Industry Experience: Demonstrated extensive industry experience in water or water-related projects.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve project and corporate objectives.
- Standards and Legislation: Working knowledge and understanding of relevant Standards and Legislation.
- Project Management Frameworks: Working knowledge and understanding of project management frameworks, such as PMBOK, PRINCE2, and other industry standards.
- Industry Body Membership: Member of The Institution of Engineers Australia, or equivalent industry body.
- Professional Registration: Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland.
