Job DescriptionAs a Senior Project Engineer - Major Projects, you will play a key role in the delivery of complex infrastructure projects, working closely with our client's executive management team and other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:- Project Delivery: Provide specialist engineering advice on the delivery of major capital projects, as directed by the Executive Manager.
- Team Leadership: Lead teams for project delivery activities for capital works across our client's Major Projects portfolio.
- Tender Analysis: Undertake thorough and systematic analysis of tender submissions for capital works and prepare detailed reports for the review of senior management and our client.
- Team Supervision: Assist the Executive Manager Major Projects in leadership and supervision of allocated teams and work programs.
- Workload Management: Manage workload across team to drive efficiency and Value for Money opportunities.
- Expert Advice: Provide expert professional advice to other Council Officers, Stakeholders and Councillors on current and proposed projects.
- Project Management: Responsible for overall delivery, project management and contract management of elements of major capital works projects completed by both internal and external resources.
- Supervision and Direction: Work under limited supervision from the relevant Executive Manager Major Projects to lead and direct project teams and supervise staff and contractors.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports on project expenditure and scheduling including details on progress claims, variations and expenditure trends.
- Consultation and Negotiation: Lead consultation and negotiation with internal and external authorities including public utility authorities, etc.
- Technical Knowledge: Application of a sound technical knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Statutory Approval Legislation and Contract Law.
The successful Senior Project Engineer - Major Projects meets with the following requirements:
- Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering or other relevant Engineering qualification.
- Experience: Extensive civil engineering, project and contract management experience in a medium to large multi-disciplined organisation.
- Industry Experience: Demonstrated extensive industry experience in water or water related projects.
- Team Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve project & corporate objectives.
- Knowledge and Understanding: Working knowledge and understanding of relevant Standards and Legislation.
- Project Management Frameworks: Working knowledge and understanding of project management frameworks, such as PMBOK, PRINCE2, and other industry standards.
Desirable skills and Qualifications
- Professional Membership: Member of The Institution of Engineers Australia, or equivalent industry body.
- Registration: Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland.
