Michael Page is a leading professional recruitment agency, and we are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Project Engineer to join our team.

Job Description

As a Senior Project Engineer, you will be responsible for providing specialist engineering advice on the delivery of major capital projects. You will lead teams for project delivery activities for capital works across our portfolio, undertaking thorough and systematic analysis of tender submissions and preparing detailed reports for senior management and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Delivery: Lead teams for project delivery activities for capital works across our portfolio.
  • Tender Analysis: Undertake thorough and systematic analysis of tender submissions for capital works and prepare detailed reports for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Team Leadership: Assist the Executive Manager in leadership and supervision of allocated teams and work programs.
  • Workload Management: Manage workload across team to drive efficiency and Value for Money opportunities.
  • Expert Advice: Provide expert professional advice to other stakeholders and Councillors on current and proposed projects.
  • Project Management: Responsible for overall delivery, project management and contract management of elements of major capital works projects completed by both internal and external resources.
  • Reporting: Provide regular reports on project expenditure and scheduling including details on progress claims, variations and expenditure trends.
  • Consultation: Lead consultation and negotiation with internal and external authorities including public utility authorities, etc.
  • Technical Knowledge: Application of a sound technical knowledge of relevant Australian Standards, Statutory Approval Legislation and Contract Law.
The Successful Applicant

The successful Senior Project Engineer meets with the following requirements:

  • Qualifications: Bachelor of Engineering or other relevant Engineering qualification.
  • Experience: Extensive civil engineering, project and contract management experience in a medium to large multi-disciplined organisation.
  • Industry Experience: Demonstrated extensive industry experience in water or water related projects.
  • Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multi-disciplinary project teams to achieve project & corporate objectives.
  • Standards and Legislation: Working knowledge and understanding of relevant Standards and Legislation.
  • Project Management Frameworks: Working knowledge and understanding of project management frameworks, such as PMBOK, PRINCE2, and other industry standards.

Desirable skills and Qualifications:

  • Industry Membership: Member of The Institution of Engineers Australia, or equivalent industry body.
  • Professional Registration: Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with the Board of Professional Engineers of Queensland.
