The Role

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Safety Leader to join our team. As a key member of our executive team, you will be responsible for driving our safety culture and developing safety-related systems and procedures to achieve zero harm across our operations. Based in our West Perth office, you will work closely with our Director and other senior leaders to develop annual HSE targets, track performance, and implement continuous improvement programs.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Develop and Implement Safety Strategies: Create and implement safety-related systems and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
  2. Lead Safety Culture Development: Collaborate with senior leaders to drive a safety-first culture across the organization.
  3. Conduct Risk Assessments: Identify and mitigate risks associated with our operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  4. Develop and Track HSE Performance Metrics: Establish and track key performance indicators to measure our safety performance and identify areas for improvement.
  5. Lead Incident Investigations: Conduct thorough investigations into incidents and near-misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  6. Develop and Deliver Safety Training Programs: Design and deliver training programs to ensure all employees and contractors have the necessary skills and knowledge to work safely.
  7. Collaborate with Senior Leaders: Work closely with our Director and other senior leaders to develop and implement safety-related initiatives.
Requirements
  1. Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) or equivalent tertiary qualification.
  2. Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior HSE leadership role, preferably in the mining industry.
  3. Strong understanding of legislative and regulatory requirements related to the mining industry.
  4. High-level awareness of injury management processes and workers' compensation legislation.
  5. Proven track record of working with senior management to implement HSE management plans and achieve safety goals.
  6. Ability to prepare HSE reports and documentation for management.
  7. Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills to build effective relationships at all levels.
  8. Experience with coordinating risk assessment workshops to ensure project and risk alignment.
  9. Ability to lead incident reporting and evidence gathering.
  10. Track record of developing safety audit standards and safety training programs.
  11. Ability to ensure team review compliance of day-to-day tasks ensuring alignment with activity risk assessment.
  12. Ability to establish a company culture of safety first.
  13. Experience with mobile plant operations in a construction and operational environment.
  14. Current C-Class driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. First Aid or Senior First Aid Certificate.
  2. Cert IV in Training and Assessing.
  3. Construction White Card.
