Supporting People with Dementia

At Dementia Support Australia, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to join our team as a Dementia Consultant.

  • This role presents an exceptional opportunity for individuals looking to make a meaningful impact in the lives of people living with dementia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert support to families, caregivers, and clinical staff in understanding the complexities of dementia and its impact on individuals.
  • Develop and implement practical strategies to prevent, minimise or respond to changes in behaviour related to dementia.
  • Conduct assessments and provide recommendations that are centred on individual needs and informed by evidence-based best practice.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build capability across the home and aged care sectors.
  • Contribute to research, projects and programs to meet the evolving needs of the sector.

Requirements:

  • Expertise in supporting people living with dementia.
  • Experience in Australian residential aged care and/or community aged care.
  • High level of negotiation, communication and relationship building skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritise multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Empathy and patience.
  • Relevant qualification in Allied Health, Nursing, Aged Care or Mental Health is essential.
