Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled Principal Pavement Engineer / Associate Technical Director to join their dynamic National Pavements team in Sydney.

This role will play a pivotal part in shaping and delivering high-profile projects across Australia, working alongside industry experts.

About the Role

You will be responsible for providing technical leadership and advice on pavement design as part of the temporary works and permanent works design development throughout the project lifecycle.

This includes developing and producing flexible and rigid pavement thickness designs, rigid pavement detailing and jointing layouts, pavement interface and edge detailing, subsurface drainage details and plans.

You will also build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, represent Arcadis within the wider industry, and work collaboratively with other design teams and disciplines to ensure the integrity and quality of the overall design.

Additionally, you will meet project deadlines, ensure commitments and expectations are met, and coordinate pavement designs with project teams working across multiple offices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating pavement designs;
Requirements & Experience:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A degree in civil engineering or equivalent professional accreditation;
  • Extensive experience in pavement design and major project delivery;
  • Knowledge of Austroads Guide to Pavement Technology series and technical specifications from one or more State Road Authorities;
  • Experience with specialist pavement design software such as CIRCLY and TfNSW software such as FPD2, PTL2 and RPD;
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a small team and influence, motivate and delegate effectively;
  • Excellent client-focus and sound technical know-how;
  • Demonstrated commercial and delivery acumen;
  • Excellent presentation skills;
  • Demonstrated experience of managing interdisciplinary design interfaces and/or projects;
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills;
  • Experience preparing fee buildups and proposals for new opportunities;
  • Experience of whole of life cost analysis and pavement optioneering;
  • Experience in delivering high quality drawings and reports (including calculations) for concept (tender design and reference design) and detailed design projects;
  • Demonstrated self-management and proven ability to work independently.
