Job Summary:

A Perishables Operations Specialist Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Perishables Operations Specialist to join our team. As a Perishables Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for managing processes, handling and distributing all required documentation in the shipping area. You will also coordinate pickup arrangements, ensure customer requirements are met, and complete all required documentation in a timely and efficient manner.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Manage processes and handle distribution of required documentation.
  • Coordinate pickup arrangements.
  • Ensure customer requirements are met and all required documentation is completed in a timely manner.

Accountabilities:

  1. Create or confirm transport orders to ensure pickup of shipments at origin.
  2. Perform booking and optimize bookings.
  3. Prepare, control, and distribute all required export documents to counterparts.
  4. Check responses from counterparts and finalize validation of required documents.
  5. Follow up on shipment status, identify incidents, and ensure resolution of incidents.
  6. Support Customer Service in incident and exception management resolution.
  7. Maintain excellent relationships with suppliers.
  8. Identify performance issues of suppliers and propose solutions to improve/correct performance.
  9. Perform IT systems related tasks to provide up-to-date information on shipments.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Experience with CargoWise system.
  • Extensive knowledge of AFR/OFR Export Operations.
  • Minimum one year previous experience in Shipping/International freight forwarding industry in airfreight and/or ocean-freight operational roles (advantageous).
  • Solid understanding of Freight Forwarding and Logistics principles.
  • Dangerous Goods Accreditation (highly regarded).
  • Results & outcome driven.
  • Able to work independently.
  • Familiarity with government regulations and procedures.
  • Adaptable to changes daily due to customer & airlines requests.
  • High degree of reliability and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and administration skills.
