Job Overview

The Department of Justice and Community Safety is responsible for the supervision of children and young people in the Victorian criminal justice system.

Youth Justice oversees services responding to children and young people in the criminal justice system, providing strategic advice and delivering outcomes to address youth crime and reduce offending.

This role leads the implementation of reforms under the Youth Justice Act, building and leading a team focused on associated youth justice reforms.

  • Lead stakeholder consultation, communication and governance for YJ Act implementation across DJCS and partner agencies.
  • Provide authoritative advice on YJ Act reforms, including policy, legal and operational impacts.
  • Deliver high-quality briefings, reports and strategic advice for senior executives.
Key Responsibilities
  • Strong knowledge of Victorian Government administrative processes.
  • Excellent stakeholder relationship and people management skills.
  • Knowledge of current policy direction, research and issues within Youth Justice.
  • Strong conceptual and analytical skills with ability to analyse complex issues.
