Pathology Expertise

We are seeking an individual to join our Histology team. The role involves performing routine histological procedures from specimen reception to result execution for pathological diagnosis.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of biochemistry, haematology and blood bank procedures. Solid knowledge of quality control, quality assurance and troubleshooting is also required.

Key responsibilities include performing duties with a high degree of independence, identifying and implementing quality and service improvement activities and maintaining current scientific knowledge.

Responsibilities
  • Executing all routine histological procedures from point of specimen reception to execution of results for Pathological diagnosis.
  • Participating in attending FNA Procedures.
  • Recording of results in line with protocols.
  • Maintaining current scientific knowledge.
  • Participation in both routine and audit related Quality Assurance activities.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement and the development of new assays as required.
  • Participating in training staff.
  • Liaising with internal and/or external stakeholders regarding test results or referrals as necessary.
About You

To be considered for this position, you will need to meet the essential requirements:

  • Demonstrated knowledge, expertise and skills within the Biochemistry/Haematology or Blood bank.
  • Solid knowledge of QC, QAP and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to identify, develop and implement quality and service improvement activities in accordance with accreditation/certification.
  • Ability to perform duties with a high degree of independence and infrequent supervision.
  • An outstanding commitment to quality and excellence.
  • A willingness to adhere to departmental policies and procedures.
  • Strong time management, interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to cope and thrive in a busy environment.
  • Self-initiative and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Bachelor of Science, Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Laboratory Science) or equivalent.
