Job Overview

This role is a key leadership position within the organization, responsible for driving the implementation and refinement of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning (MERL) framework.

The successful candidate will lead a small team, fostering an inclusive environment that promotes high performance. They will be responsible for developing and executing MERL tools, systems, and annual work plans, as well as building and maintaining strong partnerships with research partners and program stakeholders.

  • Main Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement MERL frameworks that meet DFAT standards and align with Australia's international development priorities.
  • Lead a small team to deliver fit-for-purpose MERL solutions and translate evidence into meaningful program improvements.
  • Foster collaboration and cultural responsiveness in all aspects of the role.
  • Ensure integration of GEDSI, Greening, Localisation, Innovation, Partnerships, and Indigenous Engagement themes across all reporting.
About You / Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A seasoned MERL practitioner with expertise in DFAT standards and Australia's international development priorities.
  • Proven experience leading small teams, delivering fit-for-purpose MERL frameworks, and translating evidence into meaningful program improvements.
  • Cultural and political sensitivity, with the ability to navigate diverse contexts.
  • Strong written skills, including case studies, impact stories, and reports.
