The Finance Business Partner role is a key position within the Finance Department at WEHI - Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research. The purpose of this role is to provide financial expertise and support to research stakeholders, enabling them to drive efficient and effective use of their resources.
Key Responsibilities- Provide financial services and advice to a portfolio of stakeholders, including division coordinators, laboratory heads, and division heads.
- Deliver customer-centric services in line with agreed service levels, meeting the needs of lab and division heads and their scientific coordinators.
- Utilize innovative tools and analytical techniques to undertake value-added business analysis, supporting grants applications, costs management, and investment decisions.
- Develop strong relationships within the institute, fostering collaborative and productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Work closely with the Research Grants Office to understand and manage the financial aspects of grants within the portfolio.
- Interpersonal skills: highly effective interpersonal and communication skills, with an ability to create and foster collaborative and productive relationships.
- Customer Focus: acts in the best interests of the customer and seeks to raise the customer experience and provide value-adding services.
- Persuasion/Negotiation: win concessions without damaging relationships; convince others of your point of view; listen to and assimilate information from others to identify their needs.
- Analytical: systematically analyses and investigates data to find patterns or improve business intelligence or insights.
- Substantial experience in finance or professional services, including business partnering experience, preferably in project-based businesses.
- Proven success in preparing clear, concise outputs from detailed financial analysis, optimising available tools and information.
- Significant experience in data visualisation to enable informed decision-making.
