Senior Civil/Structural Designer Position

In this critical role, you will collaborate to conceptualize, develop, coordinate and review project civil/structural design work.

  • Plan, develop, coordinate and review design work within a small-size civil/structural design work group on projects of medium size or assignments in support of global business units.
  • Produce 3D models, drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of concrete structures, foundations and steel detailing.
  • Coordinate and interface as directed with the day-to-day technical work of civil/structural engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to upper management.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of civil/structural design estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manage implementation and performance accordingly.
  • Coordinate with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work.
  • Review key civil/structural engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
  • Mentor civil/structural designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
  • Ensure civil/structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design of a wide range of industrial structures including buildings, covered and open spaces, material handling structures, equipment supporting structures, building and equipment foundations, retaining walls, etc.
  • Design and modeling of concrete and structural steel in 3D environments (e.g., Tekla, Smart3D).
  • Assist in preparing discipline material take-offs.
  • Work in 2D environments while preparing drawings (e.g., Microstation).
  • Lead small structural design teams.
  • Interact with broader project teams, including interfaces with other disciplines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience.
  • Or 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
