We are seeking a skilled Senior Structural Designer to work on our projects.

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, developing, coordinating and reviewing project civil/structural design work in a 3D modelling environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, coordinate and review design work within a small-size civil/structural design team on medium size projects or assignments in support of global business units.
  • Produce 3D models, drawings and documentation in accordance with established design and scope including design of concrete structures, foundations and steel detailing.
  • Coordinate and interface as directed with the day-to-day technical work of civil/structural engineers, scientists, specialists, designers and drafters.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and recommend solutions to senior management.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of civil/structural design estimates and work plans in accordance with project scope, schedule and implementation.
  • Coordinate with client representatives as delegated to obtain approval on phases of work.
  • Review key civil/structural engineering drawings and calculations and bid summaries.
  • Mentor civil/structural designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development.
  • Ensure civil/structural systems designs comply with all applicable installation codes, regulations and standards.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 10-13 years of relevant experience OR 14-17 years of relevant work experience.
  • Design of a wide range of industrial structures including buildings, material handling structures, equipment supporting structures, building and equipment foundations, retaining walls etc.
  • Design and modelling of concrete and structural steel in 3D environment (e.g. Tekla, Smart3D).
  • Assisting in preparation of discipline material take-offs.
  • Work in 2D environment while preparing drawings (e.g. Microstation).
  • Leading a small structural design team.
  • Interaction with broader project teams including interfaces with other disciplines.
