Wildlife Fodder Specialist

We are seeking a passionate and experienced professional to support our Wildlife department at the Currumbin Sanctuary.

The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting and collecting high-quality fodder for our herbivorous mammals, including koalas and tree kangaroos. This role requires working closely with Wildlife Specialists to select appropriate food and ensure the best available quality fodder is selected.

As a key member of our team, you will work outdoors in various locations and weather conditions, displaying excellent park knowledge to drive the visitor experience and share our conservation stories.

To be successful in this role, you will have a Certificate III in Captive Animal Management and a minimum of 3 years' experience in gum cutting. You must also be able to deliver high levels of customer service in an energetic, friendly, and professional manner within a busy team environment.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Certificate III in Captive Animals
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in gum cutting
  • Wildlife handling, husbandry skills and previous experience in this area is essential
  • Ability to operate a chainsaw in an efficient and safe manner is highly desirable
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work with a variety of people
  • Energetic and friendly personality and confidence with domestic and international visitors
  • Be prepared to work in an outdoor environment, in all weathers, in a role that requires substantial walking in a workplace that contains animals including birds and reptiles
  • Ability to carry/support up to 10kg for a prolonged period
  • Hold a current manual Driver's license and current First Aid qualifications is highly desirable
