**Company Overview:** Human Rights Watch (HRW) is a renowned international non-profit organization dedicated to promoting human rights globally. Our Sydney office is seeking two highly motivated interns to join the Advocacy and Development and Outreach Department.

**Job Description:

We are looking for individuals who share our passion for human rights and want to contribute to our mission. As an intern in this department, you will be involved in various tasks, including conducting background research, fact-checking, and preparing published materials such as op-eds, dispatches, press releases, and daily monitoring of news and current affairs.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research on domestic and international issues related to Australia;
  • Assist with preparation of published materials, including articles, press releases, and reports;
  • Monitor press coverage and update lists;
  • Support outreach tasks regarding human rights in the Asia region, with a particular focus on Australia;
  • Use databases and support tasks relating to event planning;
  • Other projects may be assigned as they arise and when they match the intern's interests.

Salary: We offer a competitive salary of AU$15 per hour (approximately AU$4,100 per month for a 30-hour workweek). Additionally, interns will be reimbursed up to AU$35 per day for lunch and transportation expenses.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled students or recent graduates with a strong interest in human rights;
  • Excellent research and writing skills;
  • Ability to work well in a team and communicate effectively;
  • Familiarity with fundraising, media, social media, government relations, event planning, and Salesforce would be beneficial;
  • Computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office.
