Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Safety and Health Professional to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and experienced individual to contribute to our safety management plans and key objectives.

About the Role

The Senior Safety and Health Professional will be responsible for delivering and contributing to the site's safety management plans and key objectives. The role will involve working with the site leadership team and Division SHS Team to execute our strategic and operational plans, driving behavioral safety change across the business, and providing day-to-day support and advice to various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist site personnel in developing site and task-specific risk assessments, operational procedures, and work instructions, and conduct ongoing reviews of the effectiveness and compliance with risk control measures.
  • Develop and/or review the site induction, taking into account both Qube and owner requirements when working on common user sites, and the perspective of employees from varying backgrounds.
  • Liaise with third-party site representatives (Port Authorities, client reps, etc.) and regulatory bodies for undertaking investigations, obtaining key information, conducting joint risk assessments, and communicating the Qube SHS Management Plan.
  • Drive the established SHS consultation and communications processes, including WHS Representatives, WHS Committees, and toolbox meetings.
  • Provide site leadership and assistance in developing a safety culture and environment consistent across all safety-critical functions.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor site SHS Management Plans to meet site performance targets and corporate requirements.
  • Establish, implement, and monitor an inspection and audit program for sites, including maritime safety requirements, mentor staff in carrying out these activities.
  • Implement the change management standard when processes change on site, ensuring all change management objectives are met and complied with.
  • Provide advice and support to the site manager, ensuring all legislative and legal obligations are adhered to regarding WHS and workers' compensation.
  • Lead, mentor, and coach site operations staff on SHS accountabilities, ensuring effective implementation of SHSMS on site.
  • Provide support to site-based management on Return to Work and Injury Management.
  • Analyze site SHS performance, identifying trends, and follow-up initiatives to address identified current or emerging trends.
  • Compile high-quality and accurate monthly reporting on SHS performance.
  • Provide ongoing advice on best practice SHS, staying current with regulatory and industry SHS matters, including legislation, codes of practice, standards, and other shared resources.

Safety, Health & Environment

The successful candidate will take reasonable care for their own safety and health and the safety of others, follow all safety and health instructions as specified during induction, use personal protective clothing or equipment provided by the company when applicable, take good care and maintenance of company and client equipment, report any situation at the workplace that could constitute a hazard, report any injury or harm to health arising in the course of or in connection with work, cooperate as necessary so that the company can carry out its HSE obligations, and cooperate with the rehabilitation program where required.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in OHS/WHS.
  • A minimum of five years leading in an operational SHS environment.
  • Incident Cause Analysis Method (ICAM).
  • Experience in implementing and managing safety management systems.
  • Ability to develop tactical plans to address safety issues.
  • Heavy industry experience (mobile plant, lifting) preferred.
  • Return to Work Coordinator.

Estimated Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
