Family Support Specialist

We are seeking an experienced Family Support Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing referrals into our Intensive Family Support (IFS) program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and process referrals and referral enquiries in a timely, sensitive, and effective manner.
  • Complete child protection risk assessments and screen information for domestic and family violence risk, consulting with supervisors/specialists as required.
  • Identify support needs of families and assess whether they meet the referral criteria of the program.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Tertiary degree in a relevant discipline (allied health, social work, human services).
  • At least 2 years' experience working within a child protection framework.
  • Able to build rapport quickly and respectfully over the phone and in person with both referred clients and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify and assess risk of harm using a child-centred approach.

Other Requirements:

  • Eligible for a Working with Children Check or professional exemption.
  • Hold a current driver's licence.
