
Family Support Specialist

Churches of Christ - Children, Youth & Families are seeking a compassionate and skilled Family Support Specialist to join their team in Ashmore & Daisy Hill.
The successful candidate will be passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and build rapport with people from diverse backgrounds.
Key responsibilities:
- Facilitate intake, screening, and placement of children and young people with foster and kinship care families.
- Deliver assessments, crisis support, and therapeutic interventions; escalate concerns as needed.
- Develop and evaluate care plans tailored to individual needs.
- Deliver evidence-based parenting programs and collaborate with community partners to support families.
- Recruit, assess, and support foster and kinship carers, including facilitating approval processes.
- Lead case management planning and maintain accurate client records.
- Provide flexible, in-home support services, including after-hours and on-call duties.
Requirements:
- Relevant degree in social work, psychology, or related field - or equivalent experience.
- Strong understanding of child protection, out-of-home care, and relevant legislation.
- Skilled in care assessments and trauma-informed practice.
- Knowledge of challenges faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Current driver's licence, National Police Check, Working with Children (Blue Card) and Licensed Care Service (Child Protection).
