We are seeking an experienced bridge engineer to lead our bridge engineering capability across Australia.

The successful candidate will provide support to the Regional Director for Highways & Bridges and be responsible for supervising a group of bridge engineers and designers.

Job Description

This is a senior leadership role that requires strong technical expertise, excellent communication skills, and the ability to lead and manage a team.

The National Bridge Lead will be responsible for planning, organizing, and leading project teams in the delivery, design, and documentation of project requirements.

  • Lead contract negotiations including variations, claims and commercial disputes, and ensure fulfilment of contract obligations;
  • Project management and technical leadership across various multi-disciplined projects;
  • Organising business development and strategic initiatives, including preparation of proposals;
  • Monitor output to ensure all of the group's work is completed to a high technical standard, within agreed budgets and timeframes, and in compliance with Hatch's business systems;

The ideal candidate will have extensive industry experience as a Bridge Engineer recognised by clients at state level, a relevant degree in civil engineering, and sound knowledge of Australian Standards in current engineering and construction principles, methods and practices.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • A relevant degree in civil engineering;
  • Extensive industry experience as a Bridge Engineer recognised by clients at state level;
  • Sound knowledge of Australian Standards in current engineering and construction principles, methods and practices;
  • Flexible in attitude and able to lead or direct a group of technical staff;
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with all levels of staff and clients (both written and orally);
