About the Role:

As a Senior Account Officer, you will have the opportunity to develop your accounting and administration skills in a dynamic work environment.

This role offers a chance to gain valuable experience operating a trust account, preparing QLS Audit requirements, and working across all areas of the accounting system.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Operate a trust account, including term deposits and investments, and prepare QLS Audit requirements with external accountants/auditors.
  • Work across all areas of the accounting system to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Assist in reconciliations and reporting as required.
  • Enter and pay creditors as needed.
  • Maintain compliance with internal financial policies, legal regulations, and industry standards.
  • Support financial audits and reviews as necessary.
  • Collaborate with P&C on fortnightly payroll of the business.
  • Analyze opportunities for improvement to enhance efficiency and accuracy, including technology optimisation, automation, and standardisation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy of financial information.
  • Journey to various offices may be required to maintain presence within the finance team.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience in an accounting role within a law firm is essential.
  • Familiarity with QLS Trust account rules and regulations is necessary.
  • Payroll experience is a requirement.
  • Deliver high-quality, proactive, and responsive client service.
  • Experience with a legal practice management system (such as Actionstep & Xero) is highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrate strong organisational skills, ability to plan and prioritise tasks to meet key deadlines.
  • Show initiative and willingness to learn and develop new skills.
