Job Title: Payroll Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Accountant to join our team at Farm Credit Bank of Texas. As a Payroll Accountant, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, while ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll and benefits-related accounting functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Reconcile payroll and benefits-related general ledger accounts, including payroll-generated entries, vendor payments, insurance billings, and thrift payments.
  • Prepare, review, and submit or adjust payroll journal entries for approval and posting.
  • Interface with the Accounting Department regarding reconciliation issues and provide necessary information for quarterly annual leave adjustments.
  • Receive payroll, benefits cost, and annual leave data from the HR/Payroll system and prepare direct note accounting entries.
  • Assist in internal and external departmental audits.
  • Coordinate the annual pension contribution funding between associations and the pension plan trustee.
  • Prepare the annual departmental and FCBT salary budget.
  • Provide customer service to bank and association personnel.
  • File payroll-related information in the appropriate file/binder in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Submit journal vouchers, wires, check requisitions for the bank and associations, and distribute vendor payments to Accounting.
  • Reconcile W-2 information and forms for the bank.
  • Prepare Workers Compensation estimates and audit reports annually.
  • Prepare and maintain Bank employee automobile reports for taxable fringe benefit entry into the payroll system for W2 reporting.
  • Process and audit FCBT bank payroll.
  • Prepare Verification of Employment letters for FCBT employees.
  • Complete the annual Census for FCBT and Associations.
  • Resolve daily Active Directory errors.
  • Maintain the accounting Adaptive software with current employee information and add/terminate users as needed.
  • Answer payroll accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data.
  • Maintain the privacy and confidentiality of employee and payroll information at all times.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
  • 5 or more years' experience in accounting and/or human resource and payroll processing.
  • Mastery of GAAP and general ledger reconciliation techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of commonly used accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to use personal computers and software, including Microsoft Office suite and HR software.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Accuracy in maintaining records and files.
